Garland-shaped shopping bags gift to APEC delegates

APEC CEO Summit 2022 delegates will be greeted by Krungthai Bank with a garland-shaped shopping bag made of recycled plastic bottles.

Krungthai Bank, APEC CEO Summit 2022's major sponsor, has prepared a garland of reusable shopping bags as a special welcome present for the attendees. The bag highlights the exquisiteness of Thai handicraft by being constructed from recycled plastic bottles and embellished with wooden beads and craft flowers made from dried plant stems. It is packaged in a recycled PET plastic box that decomposes far more quickly than the 450 years needed for regular PET to do so. This garland of a reusable shopping bag also acts as an incentive to  decrease disastrous environmental effects and adheres to the zero waste principle.

The success of the Koh Tao, Better Together initiative, in which Krungthai collaborated with UNDP Thailand and Raks Thai Foundation to create jobs for Koh Tao villagers who were severely affected by Covid-19, is symbolized by the turtle printed on the reusable bag. The project was able to hire locals, revive and grow the community, and protect the marine habitat thanks to donations received through the Krungthai e-Donation platform. Additionally, Krungthai Bank supported the advancement of biodiversity and financial literacy. These initiatives have a  beneficial impact on the Koh Tao community and will move it closer to a sustainable future.

From November 16 to 18, 2022, Thailand will serve as the host nation for APEC and the APEC CEO Summit. The summit will be a venue of global significance that will be attended by APEC economic leaders as well as international and regional business leaders from the 21 economies. It will determine the path to prosperity, economic and social growth in the Asia-Pacific region, which will improve trade and investment conditions. In order for the economies of the member states to jointly achieve sustainability, it will also act as a venue for the exchange of innovation experience.
